Smart Panda uses two cookies, and both are needed for the service to work at all. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking of any kind. Nothing about your family is sold or shared with advertisers, and we do not follow you around other websites.
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, you won’t see a cookie consent banner on Smart Panda. There is nothing optional to consent to.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise you on your next page or visit. It is how a site remembers that you are signed in. Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses.
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
sb-…-auth-tokenSmart Panda (via Supabase) | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it you would have to log in on every screen. | Until you sign out, or the session expires |
sp_learnerSmart Panda | Remembers which student on your account you are currently viewing, so results and tests show the right child. | Up to 12 months |
Both are set as HttpOnly where possible, meaning scripts in the page cannot read them, and both are limited to the Smart Panda site.
Your browser also has a store called browser storage. It works like a cookie, but nothing in it is sent automatically with every request the way a cookie is — it stays on your device unless the site reads it for a specific purpose. We use two items:
sp_hide_test_instructions — remembers that you ticked “don’t show this again” on the pre-test instructions screen, so you aren’t shown them before every mock. This one never leaves your device.smartpanda_acquisition_source — if you arrive through a link we’ve shared, such as on Facebook or Instagram, this temporarily remembers the source of that visit so we can understand which channels bring families to Smart Panda. It holds only a short source label such as “facebook” — nothing about you, your child, your answers or your results. It is never shared with advertising platforms, and it disappears when you close the browser session. To be precise about that second one: if you go on to create an account or take the free challenge, that source label is saved alongside your record in our own database, so we can tell how families found us. That is the only time it leaves your browser, it goes only to Smart Panda, and it is never sold or passed to an advertising network.
Clearing your browser data removes both. The instructions screen simply comes back, and a visit with no source label is recorded as “direct”.
When you pay, checkout is handled on Stripe’s own secure pages. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process the payment and prevent fraud, under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see your card details. Apart from that, no other company sets cookies through Smart Panda.
If we ever add anything that measures how the site is used, we will update this page and ask for your consent first — we won’t switch it on quietly.
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Please note that blocking our two cookies will stop you being able to sign in, because the site would have no way to remember you from one page to the next.
If this policy changes we’ll post the new version here with a fresh “last updated” date. For anything you’re unsure about, see our Privacy Policy or reach us through the support page or at admin@smartpanda.com.au.
